4 Tips to Remember When Planning Your Itinerary

Planning of

Your Travel Itinerary

Do you also sometimes have trouble planning your final itinerary? We sometimes spend hours on it! These 4 tips can already help make it a lot easier. These are tips to keep in mind when planning your itinerary.

1 Getting out

When planning your itinerary, it is important to know what you want to see and do. And then plan your route accordingly. Because if you don’t, chances are you won’t see or do half of it and you’ll regret it afterwards. Maybe you even think that a schedule is not for you and you want to choose on the spot what you will do.

That’s possible, that’s how we did it in the beginning, but afterwards we were often disappointed that we hadn’t seen or done certain things. Simply because our route was not in function of our excursions, but the excursions in function of the route, and that is not the intention! The ideal is that you print or buy a map and that you indicate all the excursions you want to do there and then go and see what the best route is.

2 Take your time

Don’t make your route too heavy when planning and take your time observing everything. For example, in America we had counted on one day per National Park and that is actually far too little. So count on enough time per exit. Actually, it is best to double down on everything in your planning. Suppose you think you will be somewhere for one hour, then suddenly make it two hours on your schedule.

3 Better to do one thing well

Sometimes it is better to do or see one thing, than to do a hundred things but not actually do one really well. We sometimes see vacation plans go by where they are going to see twenty cities in fourteen days, and believe us, you have seen a lot but really nothing. It is better to explore one place well than to see everything fleetingly without being able to enjoy it.

4 Variation

Above all, make sure you have enough variety in your outings and planning. For example, we love music but after two museums about music we’ve had it too. Rather, alternate between a museum and a piece of nature. So enough variety in the schedule is certainly welcome. Even if you just want to lie on the beach, for example, you can look for different beaches. In retrospect, you’ll be glad you did.
