The last city in the list of things to do in Mexico is a visit to Sayulita. The place we left our hearts. This seaside resort is so pure and beautiful that you can’t help but fall in love with this place. Maybe there’s not that much to do. But what there is to do, you can do for days. 1 Go to the beach
The main activity in Sayulita is lying on the beach, because the beautiful expanses of quiet beaches are perhaps the most beautiful beaches we know. Go to the local supermarket to get some drinks and refreshments and enjoy the beach life to the fullest. We also rented an umbrella for 10 euros for a full day. And that too is highly recommended because the sun can burn seriously here!
2 Star gazing in Sayulita
And as if this place isn’t magical enough during the day, you can also view a beautiful starry sky at nightfall. In this place you can really see hundreds of stars. So also here you can enjoy on the beach with a blanket and have a romantic moment. It’s best to go even a little earlier…. because the sunset here is definitely worth watching!
3 Marietas islands
The Marietas Islands are a group of islands that are beautiful to visit. We were unfortunately not able to do this due to improper planning. On Mondays and Tuesdays you cannot sail to the islands, in order to keep the island clean and protected. So a reason for us to return to Sayulita, although there are more reasons.
4 Donkey or horse rides
In Sayulita you can also take trips on a donkey or horse. We have heard this mostly from people that have done this themselves, because we never actually do this. Especially because we are committed to the animals. We were not entirely sure that these animals were treated well. Do you want to do this anyway? Then you can book horse rides or donkey rides in the center of the village.
5 Daytrip Puerto Vallarta
A day trip to Puerto Vallarta is definitely a must, and while you may not be able to see all of this city in one day, it is still worthwhile to go shopping at the Malecom, for example. Or to look up the zona romantica for a change. Although, of course, there is still much more to do in Puerto Vallarta.
6 Golf cart rental
Anyone who comes to Sayulita can’t help but notice: the golf carts. You can rent them to get around easily and also just because it’s a fun way to explore the coast. This way you can see every corner of Sayulita in a short time. Please note that these golf carts are not allowed on major public roads. For the best golf cart price, you need to compare and, above all, have the courage to negotiate.
7 Shopping in Sayulita
In Sayulita you can shop very well. And while there are some nice boutiques to buy clothes, it is especially fun to look for unique and authentic souvenirs at the local stalls. There are a lot of handmade souvenirs to be found. This is a very unique way of shopping that you will only find here. However, haggling at these stalls seems disrespectful to us, since the prices are already very low. Especially for handicrafts, you can be sure that you already pay the best price.
8 Relaxing
If there’s one more thing you can definitely do in Sayulita, it’s relaxing. Relaxation can be found here in the form of all kinds of (water) sports such as surfing. There are a number of surf clubs to be found and also the whole village has a general surfersvibe. Furthermore, you can also go on a yoga retreat here or you can simply enjoy a day of wellness or a beneficial massage. We also tried this out and can undoubtedly recommend it!
