13 Things to put in your luggage that are indispensable when traveling

13 things for

in your luggage

When you travel , there are always things you take with you that you don’t seem to really need at your destination. Recognizable? We list 13 things for in your luggage that do make a difference when traveling and that will make your travels a lot more pleasant . These are things that, for us, are indispensable to take with you. Check if you have them in your luggage!

1 Camera

A good camera is of course a must if, like us, you love taking pictures. Even if you don’t like taking pictures, a camera can be useful for reminiscing later. We don’t really save on a good camera because we notice the difference very clearly between a camera of lower quality and one of better quality. It is especially important that you buy the right camera for your type of photography. But any camera is certainly indispensable on your next trip.

2 Lock for luggage

What we also take with us as standard is an extra lock to securely lock our luggage, for example. You may have a built-in lock on your suitcase, but that can break quickly (unfortunately we know from experience). And then it is really handy that you have a spare slot with you. You can buy such a lock for a few euros in various stores. So it’s not a big investment, but it can make your trip more enjoyable and safer.

3 Travel diary

Nothing is more annoying than coming back from your trip and not knowing what you did when. Once upon a time you can forget what you saw or did which day. That’s how it should be on vacation! But it is nice if you have written down a few things about your trip every day so that you can read it again later. Writing down nice or funny details is also a must . This way you get that feeling again when you read your diary. It doesn’t have to be a very thick book to write in, but just your diary or even a small notepad is enough. It is of course also possible on the basis of a photo book (afterwards), but then it is best to write down the correct dates and anecdotes. Fun afterwards guaranteed!

4 Card reader

You may be able to make a lot of payments via your smartphone. But it is also possible that on certain websites you can encounter extra security so that you can only transfer money or pay something with the use of a card reader. We experienced this when we became ill while traveling . Since then, we have taken our digital card reader with us when traveling!

5 Universal Travel Adapter

If, like us, you travel a lot to other parts of the world, it is useful to purchase a universal travel plug or adapter. Nothing is more convenient than having these on the spot! For example, you do not have to take into account where you are traveling to and whether or not you can charge your electronics there. We have several of these plugs as we use them very often. We can’t live without it!

6 Digital Luggage Scale

The Coolgift digital luggage scale is a very handy tool to take with you on a trip. It weighs your luggage very precisely. The device itself weighs nothing and is very small, so handy to put in your suitcase so that you can also measure the weight of your luggage on holiday before you return home. Handy if, like us, you want to take a lot of souvenirs with you!

7 Medication

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our big trip around the world, it’s that medication is indispensable. On all your travels! We have already prepared a complete checklist for your luggage so that you do not forget anything about medication. Don’t forget to bring a medicine passport. You can ask your doctor about this and ensure that you take the medication you take with you legally, even if it is on prescription. It is an important piece of evidence that you should have several copies of with you.

8 Sun cream

Something that we always take with us on our destinations is sunscreen. Usually we travel to sunny destinations and then a few tubes of sun cream are not an unnecessary luxury. Even to less sunny destinations, we always take this with us. Although a less high factor, we usually don’t leave the house without a layer. This item should certainly not be missing in our luggage.

9 Earplugs

Nothing is more annoying than starting your flight with people making a lot of noise. That’s why earplugs come in handy right from the start of your trip. We also sometimes use earplugs to sleep. Because unfortunately not all hotels or other overnight stays are equally quiet.

10 Headphones

In addition to earplugs, we always take headphones/earphones with us to listen to music on the go. On many long-haul flights, there are also built-in TVs where your earphones can come in handy when watching a movie. We also use this to watch Netflix on the go. Indispensable to take with you on a trip!

11 Mint or chewing gum

Not only to have less pressure on your ears when taking off in the plane, but also just for fresh breath, we take coins or chewing gum everywhere. Do not forget to put this in your hand luggage.

12 Memory card

Because we like to take a lot of photos on our travels, it is advisable to provide an extra memory card for our smartphone or an extra memory for our laptop. If we don’t do this, we will soon suffer from an overfull memory. Very annoying when traveling and easy to get around by thinking about an extra memory card before departure.

13 Documents

We cannot emphasize it enough but it is really very important to take a copy of ALL your important documents and take it with you in your luggage. This ranges from travel insurance papers to your airline tickets to your identity card. You cannot bring enough copies of your travel documents. It may be the most important item in your suitcase.
