Luxembourg is a tiny but beautiful country in terms of nature. Not only is it a popular country for hikers but also for people who love visiting castles. For they are numerous in Luxembourg. And the best part? It is only a few hours’ drive from Belgium and the Netherlands. Well worth a trip or weekend away! We present you the most beautiful places you definitely want to visit during a road trip in Luxembourg.
Castle of Vianden
If you don’t have much time or just want to visit one castle, let it be the castle of Vianden. This giant castle is located in the middle of the city of Vianden but also among the greenery of the forests surrounding it. The castle sits on a hill so it towers beautifully over the city. On the route to it, you have the best view from a distance and can take stunning photos. Of course, you can also visit the castle itself. It will cost you 7 euros per person. Also the view is magnificent.
Waterfalls
You might not think it, but Luxembourg also has waterfalls. Admittedly small but no less beautiful for that! The Schiessentümpel waterfall near Müllerthal is fairy-tale like. The environment there, especially in autumn, is particularly beautiful. A small bridge, covered with graceful plants amidst a green oasis, leads you to the falls. You can park nearby and you don’t have to walk far to visit the falls. For hikers who like to explore the area a little more, there is plenty of challenge along the river or how about climbing up to the nearby forests? This makes a nature lover very happy. An absolute highlight of a road trip in Luxembourg.
National Park
Since nature is so beautiful there, it is of course not surprising that Luxembourg has a National Park. If you ask us, Luxembourg is simply one big National Park, but officially it has three. We chose the Upper Sûre National Park and are very glad we made that choice. You can park at Upper-Sûre Lake where you have a breathtaking view of the lake that runs through the park. This image makes you pause for a moment. Of course, you can drive further through the park or leave the car and continue on foot. We did the latter option and found it to be one of the best experiences so close to home. Furthermore, you can therefore go to the Our and the Trois Frontières. All wonderful places to visit!

Luxembourg of course has numerous other beautiful places, such as its many picturesque towns and villages, castles, fortresses and nature parks. But the above spots are our absolute favorites.
