Is Luxembourg also on your list of vacation destinations this summer or fall? Not unusual, as this popular destination is perfect as a holiday destination close to home. Also, Luxembourg can be surprising during each season. A vacation in Luxembourg during the summer period or during the autumn is completely different. That’s what makes Luxembourg such a nice destination.

Safe destination

Are you also tired of staycations and would you like to go on vacation (just) outside of Belgium? Then we have the solution for you! Luxembourg is close to home (read: just over two hours away) and there is so much to discover. Here you are in the right place if you like to travel in a safe way. There is no mass tourism, you spend most of your time in nature and you can rent a cottage without coming into contact with other people. Or, for example, you can stay in your own “mushroom” eco-lodge as we did! You basically have your own cottage but with the benefits of a hotel, where you can also have a full meal in the morning and evening. And it is located near the impressive Château d’Useldange. A unique experience to stay here!

A road trip through Luxembourg is the ideal way to travel through this small but beautiful country. You easily traverse the entire country in a few days and each piece has its own gems. From bustling villages to breathtaking nature. You will automatically come across beautiful places by car where you just want to make a stop. You can spend the night in cozy B&Bs, luxurious hotels or adventurous campsites. Something for everyone!

Guttland

Our road trip began in the Guttland region. Here you can enjoy castles and nature to the max. The most beautiful castles we saw were Château de Bourscheid and Château d’Ansembourg. Especially the last one is a favorite. Not only is the castle impressive, but the landscaped gardens are especially impressive. The whole scene reminded us of the castle from the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast.

Luxembourg City

Luxembourg is known for its castles and nature but there is so much more to discover. The capital Luxembourg, for example, has much to offer culture lovers and bon vivants. A chocolate museum, art gallery, the old town which is a UNESCO heritage site and many cozy bars and restaurants. Here you can easily spend several days. One address in particular we can recommend for an overnight stay is the Graace Hotel. Sustainable but comfortable decorated.

Eislek

Our road trip then continued to the Eislek region. The area around Lake Haute-Sûre is one of our favorite regions. Here no busy towns or villages but the silence of nature that brings you above all relaxation. Long walks, vast nature and beautiful vistas are the main reason to come to this region. If you do want to visit a cozy village, let it be Esch-sur-sure. From the ruins on top of the village you have the best view.

To explore the constructed reservoir, we recommend taking the Solar Boat. This solar-powered boat runs three times a day in the summer. You will learn about the history of the lake but also the surrounding fauna and flora. Moreover, it is a relaxing outing for young and old. Booking tickets in advance is required.
