Experience the magic of Disneyland Paris - Weekend getaway
The magic of
If there is one place on earth where you can still experience real magic, it is without a doubt Disneyland Paris in France. Not only is it the perfect weekend getaway for young families, but even later in life you can so enjoy that weekend of nostalgia among all your favorite Disney characters and princesses. Do you also want to be catapulted back to your childhood? Then read here why you should visit Disneyland Paris one more time. With or without children. Both is totally okay!
Disneyland Paris is perfect for a weekend getaway close to home. About a three-hour drive from Brussels, or a little shorter by train, you are already in Disneyland. Not so far, then, for a magical weekend. As a young family, this is a perfect getaway. A very unique experience for the kids. But even as a couple, this can be a romantic getaway. We took our little fourteen year old niece with us and it was an unforgettable experience for her and for us! Coming to the park for a single day is also possible, but given the wait times, it is recommended to opt for multiple days so you can visit both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park at your leisure. You can book both parks together or separately. We recommend visiting both parks. They are each unique in their own way.
An admission ticket to Disneyland is not cheap. This also makes it a rather exceptional outing that you and your children will be talking about for a long time to come. We ourselves had that experience when we went to Disneyland once in our childhood. We couldn’t stop talking about the park and its unique attractions. That’s partly why we think it’s worth going there at least once in your lifetime. For some, it has even become an annual trip or they make it a sport to visit all the Disney parks in the world. A beautiful hobby!
A visit to Disneyland is not complete without an overnight stay in a Disney hotel. Staying near the park so you can be the first to enter is a must and it makes you feel relaxed. We had not stayed in a hotel like this before this trip, which made it so special. We dreamed of this as children and even in later life it is a fine experience. Granted, some hotels are in need of replacement or renovation, but even that makes you nostalgic when sleeping in one of the Disney hotels. And the extensive breakfast buffet is perfect for a day brimming with energy.
Atmosphere and conviviality
Beyond the insanely beautiful and fun attractions, Disneyland is an experience in itself. The atmosphere cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The highlight for us was without a doubt the Disney parade and fireworks at night. The Disney Parade is there every day and features your favorite Disney songs and characters. This is where you can go all out! The fireworks are spectacular, entertaining and extraordinarily special. You only experience this once-or several times if you’re lucky-and that’s why you need to start looking into this. We happened to be in Paris on July 14 and, because of the French national holiday, got double fireworks and also double the spectacular. Highly recommended! Tip: It wasn’t even busier there than on any other day. So definitely worth taking into consideration when booking.
Entertainment at Disneyland
If there’s one thing you should visit Disneyland for later in life, too, it’s the numerous shows. These live performances are always unique and to perfection. So be sure to check one or more of them out! We had the honor of going to see the latest show of The Lion King and it took us straight back to our childhood. Amazing! With songs like Can you feel the love tonight and Hakuna Matata, you can’t help but sing along. And also the acrobatics and dancing were really wonderful. Beyond that, you will find countless (live) entertainment such as, for example, Meet & Greets, concerts, parades and so much more.
We usually don’t really go for theme parks but Disneyland is so much more. It’s an experience. The wait times can be enormous, though, and that may be the only downside we can say about our experience. So the balance sheet after a three-day at Disneyland is definitely positive for us. Three days is also ideal. This way you can visit both parks at your leisure, do your favorite rides all and also catch some shows. Disneyland brings magic to life.
