Lokeren festivals
Summer in Belgium equals festival season. We got to experience the Lokerse Feesten in Lokeren for the first time this week. This 10-day festival takes place every year in August and it had been on our wish list for some time. With names like Die Antwoord, Zara Larsson, Clean Bandit but also Clouseau, Bart Peeters and Coely, this is both a national and international festival with excellent artists! Atmosphere and conviviality
When you step inside the grounds of the Lokerse Feesten, you immediately notice the cozy decor. The place is small, with only one stage, but that immediately creates an unspoken togetherness. Everyone in attendance is looking forward to the artists who will perform on that one big stage. As a result, the atmosphere there is excellent. Everyone is in a party mood and the silences between performers are filled with danceable music from a number of DJs. Furthermore, you can relax in the chill zone with a nice drink or a snack. For atmosphere and conviviality a big 10/10!
Artists
As mentioned earlier, the Lokerse Feesten every year picks up big international names. This year’s lineup features quite a few clappers including Simple Minds, Die Antwoord, The Prodigy, Zara Larsson, Clean Bandit, Chase & Status and so many more. But well-known Belgian artists also complement this year’s program. We saw the likes of Clouseau, Bart Peeters, Niels Destadsbader, Coely and Warholapassing. And we saw that it was good!
Affordable
Not only does this festival bring lots of atmosphere and the best artists to Lokeren, but they are also super inexpensive for your wallet! Tickets fluctuate a bit between 15 and 45 euros per day. So not expensive at all to see some of your favorite artists. Each day has a common thread of a particular music genre that recurs with all the artists, allowing you to experience your ideal night out. So you have a day with only Flemish singers, one with metal music and one with rap/hip hop. Something for everyone! You often don’t just see one of your favorite artists pass by, but several in a day. And all for a small price. We are completely sold!
