You might already know that camping is not our thing. Glamping, on the other hand, is totally our thing! Spend the night in beautiful nature, have breakfast with the sun on your face and back to basics but with the necessary comfort. That is perhaps the best way to describe glamping. Something that we have learned to appreciate enormously the past years. And last weekend we were allowed to check such a unique experience off our bucket list.
Cocoon Village
Slowing down, making time for your loved ones and becoming one with nature is now also possible close to home. Cocoon Village is located in the village of Han-sur-Lesse in the Belgian Ardennes. A cozy site with about thirty Cocoon Tents that are fully equipped with comfortable beds, electricity, table and chairs, cutlery and a coffee maker. On the site itself there are of course also the necessary sanitary facilities and the possibility to eat and drink something.
You spend the night at a 5-minute walk from the wildlife park and the famous Caves of Han . Both activities are great as a family trip, but also for couples it is the ideal getaway from the daily hustle and bustle.
Moreover, thanks to your stay at the glamping, you also enjoy great discounts on exclusive visits, including the wolf stories or a culinary walk.
Caves of Han
Of course, the domain of the Caves of Han is known for having one of Europe’s largest UNESCO cave complexes. The ‘Most Favorite Tourist Heritage of Wallonia’ attracts millions of visitors for a reason. The different halls that you encounter during your descent into this beautiful underworld are nothing short of sublime. Thanks to the new light show Origin in the largest room, you will experience even more spectacle.
More than caves
But the domain of the Caves of Han offers more than just a visit to the famous caves. This beautiful piece of nature offers the opportunity to walk, spend the night, eat tasty local food, visit the wildlife park and the museum, play in the playground and experience unique activities such as tree climbing! So there is enough to keep you busy for a weekend with varied activities for young and old.
For example, we went tree climbing. And say for yourself, for whom is this not a bucket list item? Afterwards we enjoyed a safari in the game park, walked along the most beautiful viewpoints and went wolf hunting with an expert on site. An active, adventurous and unusual outing.
Glamping in your own country
We absolutely enjoyed this quiet weekend away in nature and yet close to home. We really got to know the domain of the Caves of Han and noticed that there is much more to do than we initially thought and that it can also be a surprising trip for adults. We had the chance to stay overnight on the domain and that made the experience complete.
