Hot spots in
South Africa
South Africa is one of the most beautiful countries we have visited in recent years. Of course there is a lot to do in this country and it may be difficult to make the right choice where you want to go. That is why we list the hotspots of South Africa for you here. So that we can help you a little in that quest. This list is mainly based on own experiences and preferences.
Cape Town
When visiting South Africa, a city trip in Cape Town should not be missed! This city has a lot to offer. For example, you can have a nice meal in one of the many excellent restaurants or go shopping at the Waterfront. Here you will find both large chains and local shops with which you support the townships . In addition, a visit to one of the 7 natural wonders, Table Mountain, is definitely worth it! Or how about a helicopter flight over Cape Town? One of the best excursions we did in South Africa. For those who want to learn more about the history of the country, a visit to Robben Island is worthwhile. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned here during Apartheid. Although the real hotspot of Cape Town in South Africa is undoubtedly the Cape of Good Hope and its National Park. Here you can take beautiful walks along the water with a breathtaking view.

Kruger
The Kruger Park is perhaps the most famous safari park in all of Africa. And that is not so surprising because in this National Park in South Africa you can find 148 registered species of mammals, which makes this the most varied safari park in Africa. Very impressive and something you should definitely visit in South Africa. Although a self-drive is perfectly possible here, we still recommend a guide or an organized tour. This park is 352 kilometers long and about 60 kilometers wide. Finding your way here is easier with an experienced person.
Drakensberg
Are you looking for the hiking paradise? Then you should definitely go to Drakensberg. This mountainous landscape that looks like it came straight out of a movie is simply breathtaking. Although the absolute highlight of a trip to this region is literally and figuratively the Sentinel Mountain Drive. Which is a path that takes you to the top of the mountain of the same name. To reach the top of this amphitheater-shaped mountain, you have to climb a chain ladder at the end. For this adventurous trip you will get one of the most beautiful views that you will find in South Africa or even the world! Drakensberg with the Sentinel Mountain is therefore undoubtedly a hotspot in South Africa!
Garden Route and The Whale Coast Route
The Garden Route that starts in Ado is a beautiful route along the coast and takes you to some National Parks and beautiful beaches and ends in Cape Town. Stops that you should definitely make on this route are Hermanus, Addo Elephant Park , Tsitsikamma National Park , Alexandria Sand Dunes and of course Plettenberg Bay where you can swim with seals. Of course, this route has much more to offer than just these stops. And we therefore advise you to inform yourself enough about this. The Garden Route, or in Dutch the garden route, runs into the De Whale Coast Route at the end. And on this road there are several places where you have a chance to spot whales, which makes this road even more spectacular. A hotspot in South Africa to write on!

karoo
Johannesburg
Johannesburg is sometimes called the beating heart of Africa. And that is mainly because the economy is controlled from here. The gold industry is especially important here. Traveling to this city is less for the nature and more for the history of the country. For example, Freedom Square, where the Freedom Law was adopted, and some houses where Nelson Mandela lived are popular attractions. The apartheid museum, the new popular district of Maboneng and Soweto where you can cycle are also highly recommended.
Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is the beautiful wine region of South Africa where you can taste the finest wines in one of the numerous wineries. A trip to this region is perfectly doable from Cape Town. An activity that you should definitely do here is take the wine tram. This tram takes you past various tastings and drives along the beautiful but also impressively large vineyards. In addition to wine tasting and good food, you can also take some beautiful walks here or enjoy a wonderful wellness area. Is this region (what should!) on your schedule? Then you should definitely visit Franschhoek. What is called the culinary capital of South Africa. A real hotspot in South Africa!
